If you saw some fantastic photos of Indian military aircraft on the internet with the source being “zone5aviation” then you have stumbled upon the work of Angad Singh, a seasoned aerospace analyst, author and photographer. Angad has worked closely with the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army for over a decade.

While not wielding a camera, he has been a Project Coordinator with the Strategic Studies Programme at one of India’s premier think tanks, the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi. As a defence journalist before that, he was Assistant Editor of the Vayu Aerospace and Defence Review and the Society for Aerospace Studies. His work on military aviation is widely recognised and published around the world, and in 2016, he received an international aerospace media award for ‘Best Young Journalist’ at the Farnborough Air Show.

Angad’s contribution to military literature has brought many projects to life – like the squadron histories of No. 28 Squadron IAF (‘The First Supersonics’), No. 5 Squadron IAF (‘Tusker Charge’), the Indian Air Force’s MiG-21s (‘First to the Last – 50 Years of MiG-21s with the IAF’), and a chapter on modern aircraft carrier aviation (‘Carrier Aviation in the 21st Century’). His most recent published historical work, co-authored with the late Pushpindar Singh, is ‘Fly Navy, Fly’ an illustrated history of India’s Naval Air Arm published in September 2021.
